Bonnye's Story

First I want to say thank you to all of you who have bared your souls here regarding your MK experience. It has been very healing to me.

Just yesterday, my husband helped me box up and take my product to UPS for shipping back to MK. Not an incredible amount, however quite a bit for our struggling family…approx $5,000 retail. The hardest part was telling my husband what I had done. Since I pay all the bills, he never saw the credit card statements. He was very gracious about the whole thing and chalked it up to a learning experience. I think he figured I had been hard enough on myself for the past few months, struggling to make this thing fly and beating myself up for not being able to do all the things that seemed to come so easy for other reps.

Just what was my malfunction anyway that I just couldn’t even give this stuff away? No matter how hard I tried, I just could not “warm chatter” anyone. My Sales Director offered to take me to the mall with the idea that we would offer those stupid green foot fizzies to tired sales clerks and they would be so grateful, they would become customers for life. How embarrassing is that? Luckily, I never made the time to do this with her. I am not sure exactly when the pink fog began to clear. It may have been when I caught her in a couple of lies. Like, for instance, when she shared with me that she was “on target” to make $5,000 in commissions from the company. Well, I never did see her name listed in the back of the Applause magazine, and she came back from Seminar last summer wearing a $500 Club ribbon. That’s when I realized that “on target” was just one of many terms used to manipulate people.

Another really weird thing is that no matter how many people attended her weekly sales meetings (usually only 2 or 3), she would behave as if the room was full. She even made us stand up in front of each other and tell of our successes. It was all so corny and strange. Well, I am so glad that this experience is over. All I am left with is enough samples to cleanse, tone and moisturize.
